Activity for good health

Time being of the essence, most of us lucky ones are able to allot a certain time and set it aside for exercise. But not all of us are so blessed. Even after we allot time, we find that something other has cropped up that prevents us from working out. So what then is the answer to this universal problem?

Snatch time for some exercise activity. If you can manage even about 15 – 20 minutes a day, you will certainly benefit. During this time, you should simply multitask, meaning use multiple muscles. Select exercises like squats which use both the front and back of your legs and of course your butt. You could supplement this with using a light dumbbell and use more muscles that way.

Try to concentrate on the bigger muscles a this is the way you can burn up more calories. In fact, your entire metabolism will receive a big boost. So what constitute the big muscles? These are the lower back, abdomen and the oblique muscles.

Aerobic activity needs to be increased. Just by doing this, you can get better results in less time. For example, replace walking for 40 minutes with biking or a treadmill for just 20 minutes.

Do a high level intensity exercise level for 2 minutes after which you slow down, but not stop. Keep going. Repeat this cycle for 20 minutes.

Instead of resting in between, try changing your exercise to work out some other muscle group. Example, follow up a set of leg extensions with a set of leg curls. This way, you will double up the number of exercises you can complete in the same given time.

Tried circuit training? This combines aerobics and strength training in one super workout. This way, you not only burn calories, you gain strength too. This is also because you move from one strength exercise to another without any gap even while you add some aerobic exercise in between.

Try to squeeze in before your breakfast and shower some essential exercises from which you will benefit. Crunches, squats, pull-ups and push-ups and lunges are a few that you could incorporate. These exercises are called calisthenics and they help to tone the body. They can be done in short bursts too and the benefits are the same as you would get with continuous activity.

Keep changing your routine. Variety is after all the spice of life. Do not allow yourself to get bored. Inertia will only make you discontinue your exercise. Try to innovate with fresh exercises that you can invent to suit your body. Most importantly, enjoy what you are doing!
